Dr. Pankow is a board-certified nephrologist and former Chief Fellow who believes that current knowledge and meticulous team coordination are the foundation of the best possible patient care.
Dr. Pankow is not rushed, provides detailed answers to questions and has a great manner in how he interacts with patients. He takes into consideration all aspects of your health, not just kidneys. Cannot say enough great things about him!

Career Journey
Dr. Pankow was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, by two physician parents. He completed his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry with Summa Cum Laude honors at Baylor University in 2010, followed by his Doctor of Medicine at Kansas University School of Medicine in 2014, where he was elected to the AΩA honor society. He completed his internal medicine residency at KU Medicine-Wichita from 2014 to 2017, earning outstanding PGY-1 and PGY-2 awards before serving as PGY-3 Chief Resident. After working alongside skilled hospitalists in his hometown, he returned to Houston and completed his nephrology fellowship at UT Houston from 2018 to 2020, where he was recognized for his leadership and compassionate care and named Chief Fellow. He joined HKSC in July 2020.

Care Philosophy
Dr. Pankow strongly believes that having the most current knowledge and diligently coordinating with all members of the medical team are paramount in providing the best possible care — just as he would for his own family and friends. He joined HKSC seeking a team of physicians who share this same philosophy of patient care.
Beyond Medicine
Dr. Pankow enjoys spending time with his wife — an infectious disease specialist — and their daughter and son. An avid runner, he qualified for the Boston Marathon and remains competitive in both running and calisthenics.
